Kazakhstan, upon disintegration of Soviet Union, has improved own standards thereof based on Gost-R standards and denominated as "Gost-K". Despite substantial identities between these standards and Gost-R, procedures and regulations vary.
Gost-K Quality Certificate is granted by institutes accredited by Kazakhstan Committee for Standardization, Metrology and Certification (KAZMEMST). Whilst this certificate is compulsory for most of the products imported, it also facilitates the internal wholesaling and retailing trade markets, and enhances the products' images.
Types of Gost-K Quality Certificate are as follows :
Single Use (Lot-Based) Certificate : For such a certificate, it is necessary to execute a sales contract with an importer in Kazakhstan. The certificate shall disclose the place of manufacture, importer, date and nr. of principal agreement and HS codes (customs tariff numbers) of the product. Such certificates shall be used once and by solely an importer.
1-Year Mass Production Certificate : These are the certificates issued for 1-year term upon exclusive examination of the samples and documents, without any expert visit. Such certificates should be updated every year.
3-Years Mass Production Certificate : These are the certificates issued for 3-years mass production upon expert visit. These shall apply for any customs procedures and product sales for a period of 3 years.
